Passionate PE Teacher (15 years)
Hi! I’m Coach Locke – children’s book author, athlete, mom, twin, and elementary school teacher. I passionately believe physical education is one of the most important classes in elementary school. We all know PE is a place where students have fun learning movement skills and playing games. But in reality, PE is so much more than that… PE is the space where we learn how to interact with people, handle our big emotions, find integrity, and push ourselves outside of our comfort zones. Development and mastery of these skills are key to building character and teaching students how to successfully interact with others – especially in a competitive environment.
It is my mission everyday to teach, promote, and inspire kindness through my work. I feel extremely honored and grateful to teach at a supportive school in Houston, Texas with a community focused on kindness. Working with the best co-workers in the best community has been a dream come true.
Most recently, after an incredible 3-year journey, I self-published my second book in the series – Stories of Love Elementary. My books are a collection of stories about real events with real students and the lessons learned along the way.
I wrote the first book, Kindness Wins, to demonstrate how each student’s words and actions can affect the way the way they feel and how their classmates respond to them. This second book, School Rules, is perfect for all teachers and parents looking to introduce classroom rules, expectations, and consequences to children. With colorful illustrations and lighthearted stories, I aim to promote positive behavior and good character in a way that resonates with young readers.
Ultimately my goal is to inspire a love of reading while teaching important social-emotional skills that will serve students both in and out of the classroom. My hope is that through storytelling, I can help students gain new perspectives on the world around them.
